Commissions
In the 19th century, Americans produced hundreds of quilts which today we consider works of art. Christine Brooks-Corbett strives to maintain those standards of construction and beauty as well as inspiring quilters who have yet to be.
Heirloom quilts require numerous hours of work to create a handmade quality. Cost depends on the size, complexity of the pattern, and the choice of hand or hand-guided machine finish. The process may take several months. You must consider how much of an investment you want to make in a quilt that will last for generations.
The process includes consultation, washing and pressing of fabrics, cutting, piecing and adding sashing or borders. For a hand finish, marking is necessary. All quilts need layerng, by assembling the top, batting and backing, and basting. Nearing completion a binding and special label are attached.
For consultations there is a minimum charge of $15.
